Pipework Chlorination in the West Midlands & Staffordshire

We're based in Norton Canes, near Cannock, so Staffordshire and the West Midlands are on our doorstep. Our engineers chlorinate new and altered pipework for M&E, mechanical and plumbing contractors, developers and builders across the region, so your water connection or handover isn't held up waiting on paperwork.

New water connections: Severn Trent and South Staffs Water

Most sites in this area are supplied by either Severn Trent Water or South Staffs Water, and the two set different rules.

  • Severn Trent Water says private supply pipes of 50 mm or above should be pressure tested, chlorinated and sampled before connection, with samples analysed by a UKAS-accredited laboratory. It also says chlorination certificates are valid for 14 days from issue, so it's best to book chlorination once you have a connection date. (Severn Trent chlorination guidance)

  • South Staffs Water's connection terms ask for pipework to be pressure tested, and for certificated analysis from a UKAS-accredited laboratory on supply pipes of 63 mm running over 25 metres, and on 90 mm and above. (South Staffs Water connection terms, PDF; see also its connection requirements page)

Requirements can change and vary by job, so always check your connection offer for exactly what your water company wants. We chlorinate private external MDPE mains up to 63 mm, take the samples and send you the full certificate and results package, ready for you to submit to your water company.
