Mains Chlorination for New Water Connections
When new water mains are installed, they are flushed and disinfected before being connected to the supply. A chlorination certificate and sample results are usually needed before a new water connection can go ahead, so the pipework is clean and fit for drinking water.
Internal Pipework Chlorination to BS 8558
Internal pipework chlorination is the process of disinfecting a building’s hot and cold domestic water systems prior to use. This is typically carried out during commissioning to ensure the system is free from contamination and safe to supply potable water to outlets such as taps, drinking points, and showers, in line with UK guidance.

What is pipework chlorination?
It’s the disinfection of new or altered water pipework before it goes into use. We flush the system, dose it with chlorine, leave it for the required contact time, then flush it again and take water samples for lab testing.
Do you chlorinate new water authority connections?
Yes. We chlorinate private external MDPE mains up to 63 mm and internal pipework, so your new connection can go ahead on time.
How quickly do I get my certificate?

Do you offer water sampling and pressure testing?
Yes. We take water samples for microbiological testing at UKAS-accredited labs, and we carry out pressure testing on new pipework.
